Assessment Center

Melissa Tuttle, Ph.D., BCBA, LP

Director of Autism Assessment

Dr. Tuttle received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Coastal Carolina University, a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Eastern Michigan University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in School Psychology from Central Michigan University.  She completed her pre-doctoral clinical internship at the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Munroe-Meyer Institute where she gained valuable experience in the assessment and treatment of severe problem behavior, early intervention based on the principles of applied behavior analysis, and autism diagnostic evaluation.  Currently, Dr. Tuttle conducts comprehensive autism evaluations to determine whether children and adolescents meet criteria for a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.

AnnMarie Bates, M.S., CCC-SLP

Speech Language Pathologist

Ms. Bates received her Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. For the past 18 years, she has served as a Speech Language Pathologist within the public school setting. During her time within the public school setting, she provided evaluation and therapy to students with Autism Spectrum Disorders, as well as serving as the Building Autism Coach.

Christi A. Owens, MCD, CCC-SLP, Ed.L.

Speech Language Pathologist

Ms. Owens graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Disorders from Louisiana State University and received her Master of Communications Disorders from Louisiana State University Medical Center.  She has worked as a speech-language pathologist and as an school administrator supporting students with autism and related disorders for over 28 years. Her current role is that of supervisor of special education with emphasis on autism. She serves as the Chairperson for the MAASE Autism Community of Practice, facilitates the Midland County ESA's CAST team (Comprehensive Autism Support Team), is a Trainer/Coach for the START program, and serves on the Child and Youth Committee for the Governor's Autism Council for the state of Michigan.

MaryBeth Smith, M.A., CCC-SLP

Speech Language Pathologist

Ms. Smith received her graduate degree from Michigan State University. She has worked as a speech-language pathologist for thirty years. For the past twelve years, she has been a clinical instructor and lecturer for the department of Communication Sciences and Disorders. She also serves as the director of CMU's Summer Speech-Language Specialty Clinics.  Ms. Smith's specialty areas include pediatric communication disorders; specifically autism spectrum disorders, social-pragmatic disorders, speech sound disorders and receptive and expressive language disorders.
