Biography

Nicole Throop is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor. She earned her master’s degree in Counseling from Central Michigan University. She completed her internships at the Nathan Weidner Children’s Advocacy Center, Bay Area Women’s Center, and Family and Children’s Services of Midland. Following graduation, Nicole worked as an outpatient therapist at Family and Children’s Services of Midland as well as a Crisis Stabilization Specialist at Community Mental Health for Central Michigan. She specializes in the treatment of adults struggling with depression, anxiety, complex trauma, and substance use disorders utilizing a strengths-based approach. Her advanced training has focused on Trauma-informed practices, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy informed skills. Her treatment is influenced by a biosocial model and the belief that all individuals have the capacity for healing.
