Several resources are available to support continuation of teaching and learning.
Leverage resources from the
Office of Curriculum and Instructional Support
This website offers best practices for using technology remotely to maintain learning continuity. If you are unfamiliar with these technologies, please contact CIS at
CIS@cmich.edu or 989-774-3615 for assistance.
Ask colleagues for advice
Reach out to colleagues who use online teaching methods and learning management systems at CMU and beyond. The Chronicle of Higher Education has published a “How to be a better online teacher” advice guide. New resources are posted daily using hashtags #remotelearning #instructionalcontinuity.
Take advantage of Blackboard
We strongly encourage you to make course materials and assignments available through Blackboard. Each course already has a shell developed, and this makes it easy to manage the distribution of materials and assignments to all students in your course.
Ensure students can access course materials
Make course materials and assignments should be made available in Blackboard. If your students need access to books, the CMU Bookstore announced that a company, VitalSource, has partnered with publishers, campus retailers and the bookstore to offer free access to an expansive library of ebooks. Please contact
Barry Waters, store director, or
Kim Yates, textbook manager, at 989-774-7493.
VitalSource Helps offers free access to ebooks from over 100 leading publishers.
Students can start using this service today at
bookshelf.vitalsource.com by logging in with their CMU Global ID. Each account can access up to seven titles.
