Great Lakes Bay Region Mental Health Initiative
Organizational update
As of April 2026, the Great Lakes Bay Region Mental Health Initiative announced its name change from Great Lakes Bay Region Mental Health Partnership to Great Lakes Bay Region Mental Health Initiative. The organization began as a collaborative, community-driven effort, initially housed at the Great Lakes Bay Regional Alliance, where it grew and was incubated through strong regional partnerships and early program development. As the work expanded and its impact deepened, it became clear that the initiative needed a long-term, sustainable home that could further integrate mental health into healthcare, education, and workforce development - leading to its transition to CMU Health.
This partnership aligns closely with CMU Health's mission to improve health through medical education, training, and service. It creates new opportunities to expand access to mental health education, reduce stigma, and strengthen community-clinical connections.
