Biography
Dr. Cowling has been involved in the EM GME program here in Saginaw since the program's inception in 1997. She completed her residency in Lansing, Michigan at the MSU combined Sparrow hospital-Ingham Regional Medical Center Affiliated program in 1995, serving as Chief Resident. Initially employed as core faculty for St. Lukes hospital (future Covenant HealthCare) to help start the EM program, she continued in that role until rising to the helm to serve as PD in May of 2015. She is in her 9th year as PD, and also served as Covenant HealthCare's Chief of Staff until December 31st, 2022. She cares for patients in Covenant's Emergency Care Center and continues to advocate for access to healthcare at the local, state and national level. Over the decades she has mentored numerous residents, medical students and faculty. She has also served the SoM as Certificate of Need Commissioner for MDHHS for 6 years.
